Aspect ratio keeps changing

Jump to solution

I have a Roku tv set and have Direct tv. When I switch from streaming (Netflix

etc.) to Direct tv my aspect ratio changes. It also changes when I pause and resume, fast forward or reverse or change channels on Direct tv. I am constantly changing aspect ratio back to 16:9. Changing HDMI cables, did not work, nor changing ports, nor resting the tv.

Re: Aspect ratio keeps changing

Hey @Greenstuff54,

Greetings from the Roku Community!

When switching channels, the changing aspect ratio on a Roku TV is likely due to the content provider sending different aspect ratio signals. Some channels might broadcast in 4:3 while others use 16:9 (or widescreen), causing the TV to adjust. Additionally, the Roku's display type settings can automatically adapt to the incoming signal, or you can manually choose a resolution.

For more information, check out this support article on how to change the display type on your Roku streaming player.

Hope you'll find this info useful, and please keep us posted on what you find out.
