Hit some button by mistake on remote when changing batteries

Jump to solution

Now I have a black broadcast screen. I have sound and all other screens just black on any show that’s on. I know I hit something by mistake when taking the battery cover off. Does anyone know how to fix this please?

Re: Hit some button by mistake on remote when changing batteries

Welcome @labrams55,

Thanks for bringing to our attention that you only see a black screen during streaming after you mistakenly hit some button on your Roku remote. We would like to take a closer look into this issue.

Does this happen with all applications, or is it limited to a specific app and its content? In the meantime, we recommend you try the following:

Restart your Roku device:

  1. Press Home on your Roku remote
  2. Scroll and select Settings
  3. Select System
  4. Select Power. If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step.
  5. Select System restart

In either case, your Roku device will complete a system restart and should return to normal operation after a moment. If the issue continues, please let us know.

For more details, please visit our Roku support article: Issues playing shows and movies on your Roku device.

Please keep us posted.
