How can I make video events longer? Can I?

Jump to solution

I currently have the Roku floodlight camera, which is doing what it supposed to do and recording events such as people walking by my driveway. The issue I am having is that all I get is the last few seconds of the person walking by and not the beginning is there a way to change this?

Hi @Dfresh567,

Thanks for the inquiry, and welcome to the Roku Community!

Do you have the micro SD card installed in your camera? Because that's the only way you can set up continuous recordings. Below are the guided steps on how.

Before you begin, make sure to install a micro SD card in your camera. You can set up continuous recording in the smart home app.

  1. Tap Home Home screen icon in Roku Smart Home mobile app from the navigation bar
  2. Select your camera
  3. Tap Settings settings icon in Roku Smart Home mobile app in the corner
  4. Select Advanced Settings
  5. Toggle Record to MicroSD card to on
  6. Select Continuous

Note: When you want to view a continuous recording, you must remove the micro SD card and connect it to your computer.

Hope this helps!

Thanks,

Rey

@RokuERey so right now, the events are about five seconds long, and I believe it says that the yearly subscription includes monitoring. I wouldn’t be looking for an hours worth of footage but more like 15 seconds at the moment when I see there is an event I look at it and all I see is the last three seconds or so so if there was a person walking up to a car. I wouldn’t see them walking up. I’d see them walking away and the last three seconds of that. So I would need to get a memory card in order to get more of the footage? If so, are there any recommendations on size card I should get?

Thanks for the update, @Dfresh567!

Yes, you need to have a micro SD card installed that has a capacity ranging in size from 8GB to 32 GB.

Let us know if you need a further query.

@RokuERey Thanks for the info. MicroSD cards aren’t very expensive these days so I might as well pick one up.
