I'm considering upgrading my much older Roku stick to the new 4K Streaming Stick. My old stick is plugged directly into my AVR, which connects to the TV via HDMI cable. My question is: will the power button on the 4K Streaming Stick power on my amp as well as the TV? I currently use a Harmony remote that turns everything on but would be happy to just use the 4K Streaming Stick remote if it would power on both the amp & tv

Hi @jaybyrd9,
Welcome, and thank you for your first post to the Roku Community!
We appreciate your inquiry about the power button on the Roku 4K Streaming Stick remote. While the Roku remote is designed to control the Roku device primarily, it can also work with your TV and amplifier, but only under specific conditions.
Key Points:
- Powering Devices: The Roku remote will not typically power your TV and amplifier simultaneously unless you have specifically set up HDMI-CEC.
- HDMI-CEC Technology: This technology allows the Roku remote to control the volume of external devices like an AVR or soundbar, but only if all your devices support HDMI-CEC and are connected via HDMI.
- Compatibility: Not all TVs support CEC, and some may offer limited functionality. Some commands might work, while others may not. Check your TV manual to see if HDMI-CEC is supported and how it works on your model.
