Streaming Stick 4K problem setting TV to picture quality

Set up went fine until I got this: "There's a problem setting the TV to a better picture quality. I get 2 options: "Continue with 1080p" or "get help". Neither works. I'm stuck. Please help.

Re: Streaming Stick 4K problem setting TN to picture quality

HI @charlie2015,

Welcome, and thanks for posting here in the Roku Community!

We're glad to assist you with your concern. Does your TV support 4K resolution? Also. Do you happen to have another TV that we can try to hook the streaming stick into and see if the same error message persists? Ultimately, kindly try to insert the streaming stick into a different HDMI input on the TV.

With these workarounds, we hope the issue will be resolved. Let us know what you find out.

Regards,
Janadee

Thanks for the reply. Our TV is an older model and this Roku device won't work with it. So we are buying a new TV. Planned obselesence for today's technology 😕

How much older?  My 2008 TV works.

Banned but back. Because why not?

I have a streaming stick 4k and need to know the MAC address in order to get on an institutional wifi network.  Where can I find my MAC address.

You can find it under Settings->Network->About or Settings->System->About.  If you haven't completed the setup, you can find it by choosing "Private network" when you get to the "Choose your network" page.  Note that if you haven't completed the setup, Hotel/Dorm connect isn't available and you'll have to complete the setup using something like a hotspot.  This may not apply if all you need to do is to report the MAC address.
