Jump to solution

My Roku ultra is plugged into a surge protector and when I switch off the strip after about 1 or 2 minutes my Roku ultra device makes a pop sound. Then pops again after about 1 or 2 minutes.

Welcome, and thanks for stopping by the Roku Community, @RBJ!

We understand your Roku Ultra has experienced a popping noise when turning off. Don't worry; we're here to help you sort this out.

This issue might be caused by HDMI cable connectivity. To troubleshoot this, try doing the following steps below:

  • Try changing your HDMI Cables. Depending on how long they were used, some cables may lead to audio issues, so replacing them could potentially resolve the problem and improve the audio quality.
  • Try it on a different TV. This will isolate the issue you're experiencing and let us know if it is a device issue or a TV speakers issue.
  • Change the audio to Stereo from Auto. Go to Settings > Audio > Audio Output Format > Stereo and see if that makes any difference. After that, reboot your Roku by navigating to Settings > System > Power > System restart
  • Audio interference will also contribute to this issue. Therefore, moving it away from any high-interference devices might resolve the issue.

We suggest giving this a try. Please feel free to share how it goes for you.

All the best,
Emman
