Pairing the Onn Blast soundbar 2.0 with Onn tv

I am trying to pair my Onn Blast Soundbar 2.0 with my 65” Onn Roku tv. I’ve gotten it set up with the Optical output, but I want to use the Roku tv remote only to control the volume (not both remotes). Previous posts mention using an HDMI connection, but the Onn Blast 2.0 Soundbar does not have an HDMI port, only Optical, Aux, or Bluetooth connections. When I try to pair via Bluetooth, the TV cannot find the soundbar (my phone can find it and the soundbar is right above the tv, so distance is not the issue). 

Surely it is possible for an Onn tv to control an Onn soundbar, please help!

    Hey, Its been a while but was wondering if you ever got this resolved, my onn tv cant find my onn soundbar either

      Your Onn Soundbar is Roku ready only, and doesn't use Bluetooth to do it. Go into the Roku tv settings> remote & devices> pair new device> soundbar> follow prompts. 

      The Soundbar will replace the tv speakers, you can't have both.
