Connecting players and channel scanning

Jump to solution

When scanning for channels during the setup. The was a prompt if you need channels for vcr/dvd combo or either. I skipped that during a later scan. Now it does not prompt if you need those extra channels. I now get no connection or picture for vcr/DVD. There seems to be sound like the DVD disc is playing.

How do I get the channels for this device?

Thanks for keeping us posted, @Middy1!

In this case, you need to manually set up the input for DVD, Cable, or antenna on your Roku TV, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Settings,
  2. scroll down, select TV Inputs,
  3. look under Inputs not being used,
  4. select the appropriate Input that your DVD player uses,
  5. and choose Set Up Input.

Once you finish, the input will be visible on your home screen and ready to use.

Hi @Middy1,

Greetings from the Roku Community!

We are interested in learning more about the problem you are experiencing. May we know if you have a Roku device connected to a TV or a Roku TV? Are you encountering any error messages or error codes? In addition, what troubleshooting steps have you already taken to try to resolve the issue?

By providing additional details, we will be better equipped to provide further assistance.

All the best,
Chel

I have a Phillip's Roku tv 32. There are not any error messages or codes.

I have tried doing a restart and also having dvd/vcr disconnected while doing this. I am not sure if this connection is done automatically without the channels that are used that the device needs to be set to. Like channel 2/3 on the tv. I also have the dvd/vcr connected with a video cable not the antenna cable

As far as error messages when you check the input for the device it is asking if it is on. Even when it is on.

I think something is missing since the update for how you can select channels from the side bar.
