Can't get out of home screen

Jump to solution

I bought a Roku TV and moved my streaming player to another room and hooked it up to another TV. I have the home screen displayed, but neither one of the remote I have will move anything, I'm stuck on the home screen. I know the first option would be to pair my remote, but like I said I can't get off the home screen to do that. Can anybody help?

Hi, @Superloop86.

Welcome and thank you for posting here in the Roku Community!

We'd be happy to help you pair your remote to your device.

In addition to the post above, you may also try these steps to pair your remote:
If your voice remote does not have a pairing button, press and hold the Back Button and Home Button for 5 seconds, or until you see the status light begin to flash.

If you have the Roku Players remote, you may follow the steps below:

  1. Locate a new matching pair of batteries
  2. Remove the battery cover on the back of your remote
  3. Remove both batteries from the battery compartment
  4. Insert the negative (-) end of the new battery first and then gently push the positive (+) end until the battery clicks into place
  5. Repeat the previous step to install the second battery
  6. Put the battery cover back on your remote

Hey Superloop86! There's a way to pair your remote without needing to navigate the home screen. Try this: Unplug your Roku player for about 10 seconds, then plug it back in. Within 30 seconds of it turning on, hold the pairing button on your remote (usually located near the battery compartment) for about 5 seconds until the light starts flashing. That should get them talking! If you're looking for long-lasting protection for your car's paint, consider car ceramic paint protection.
