Re: roku streambar remote won't turn tv off/on

Hi @Kathysue,

Greetings from the Roku Community!

We're glad to assist you with your problem with controlling the power button of your Roku remote. If the power button on your remote has stopped working entirely, you can try to update your Roku device to the most recent software. After doing so, confirm the dialogue box to proceed with the download and installation. Note that your Roku player will automatically download the latest software the next time it checks for an update. After the Roku player finishes restarting, if TV control has not been restored, check out this support article on how to set up your remote for TV control and do the following steps below:

  1. Navigate to Settings.
  2. Select Remotes & Devices.
  3. Select Remotes, followed by your remote.
  4. Select Set up remote for TV control.

Let us know how it goes, and we'll be glad to further assist you.

Kind regards,

Eunice

Re: roku streambar remote won't turn tv off/on

Hi, @Kathysue

Thanks for keeping us posted regarding the concern you have with your Roku remote.

Have you tried un-pairing and re-pairing your Roku voice remote as one of the troubleshooting step to see if it resolve the issue you encountered, If not, kindly follow the steps below:

Unpair your Roku remote.

1. Press and hold the pairing button located at the battery compartment of your Roku remote.

Re-pair your voice remote to your streaming device

Put your streaming device in pairing mode:

  1. Remove the power cable from your streaming device
  2. Wait at least 5 seconds
  3. Re-connect the power cable
  4. Wait for your streaming device to power on, and the Home screen to appear on your TV screen
  5. Within 30 seconds of seeing the Home screen on your TV screen, put your voice remote into pairing mode

Put your voice remote in pairing mode:

  1. Press and hold the pairing button on your voice remote for 20 seconds. The status light should slowly flash green, stop, and then flash rapidly. When this happens, release the pairing button and your remote will restart.
  2. Press and hold the pairing button for 5 seconds, or until you see the status light begin to flash. If the light does not flash, charge your remote.
  3. Wait for 30 seconds while the remote establishes a connection with your streaming device.

Once your streaming device and remote are connected, the pairing dialog will appear on your TV screen.

If this doesn't fix the issue, please keep us posted, and we'll further assist you.

All the best,
Kash

Re: roku streambar remote won't turn tv off/on

@Kathysue,

Thanks for your prompt response!

Could you tell us how long you have been using this remote? Could you also share with us the device serial number of the device where it's paired? We'd like to take a closer look.

Thanks,

Rey

Re: roku streambar remote won't turn tv off/on

it now will turn on with the microphone button and off with it too by pushing and saying turn off TV

it worked for 2 years or so, I'm thinking it needs replaced.

Can't find serial number.
