I’m so upset, voice remote pro not charging at all (purchased package kit 2 years ago) . I’ve read where others have experienced this same thing with this remote.
Using the connections received with in package, tried resetting, repairing after resetting (SEVERAL TIMES). Will work when plugged in to charging system. But as one person stated “way too short to use remote when plugged in”
so far 6 hours n STILL battery level remains at 0%.
I have tried to find a CS number or email but having no luck. CAN ANYONE ASSIST ME.
Thank you
Hi there, @Tealsista! Thanks for reaching out to the Roku community!
It seems you're having trouble with your Roku remote, and we're here to help. To start with, please try resetting your Roku remote by pressing and holding the Back and Home buttons simultaneously for about 20 seconds. After doing so, try charging it to see if this makes any difference.
In the meantime, please consider using our Roku mobile app for temporary and backup remotes. For detailed instructions, please refer to our dedicated support article: How to use the Roku mobile app.
We look forward to hearing from you and looking closely into this issue.
Thanks,
Jharra
We will leave our remote plugged in for DAYS and it just won't charge past 10% or so. I've tried different power adapters and cables. It's only a couple years old, what's the deal? Anyone else have this issue? I might look into replacing the rechargeable battery if it's cheap enough, but otherwise I'll just replace it. Seems silly that their "Pro" remote only lasted a year or two.
I just ran into the same problem, but I finally found something that worked (see this Roku community comment).
Here's what I did:
My remote would not charge above 11% even after trying 10 different cables / adapters / outlets, resetting the remote, etc. But it's only been 2 years - not enough for the battery to "die" as Roku suggests (what's the point of an environmentally friendly rechargeable remote that you have to toss and replace every 2 years?). Now - it is charging just fine (already at 60% after just an hour).
I don't know why this worked, but seems a little odd to me. Feels like a software issue. Almost as if the Roku software is programmed to assume the battery degrades over time. Not sure why else "resetting" the battery would cause it to suddenly worked. The battery plug was tightly in the socket before I took it out, so I don't think it is about "loose connections" developing over time.
In any case - this is the one thing that finally worked for me.
I had the same problem and just found a fix that worked. I was so frustrated by it I'm now replying to similar questions in this forum with a solution 🙂
I had a similar problem (remote wouldn't charge above 10%). Not sure if that is what you are facing (your remote won't hold a charge), but just at 0% instead of 10%.
I finally fixed it - see below in case it helps you too.
These rechargeable remotes are junk. And now the new Roku Ultra that Roku is selling comes with a rechargeable remote, forcing it on us. I would definitely rather have the normal battery remotes because you can change the batteries whenever you have problems. I also discovered that if you take the batteries out when you are not using your Roku and insert them only when using the remote the batteries will last a very long time.
I think Roku should change their policy with the new Ultra and give the customer the option to get it with either the battery remote or rechargeable remote based on your preference. Because of this I will not order the new Roku Ultra and have another useless rechargeable remote forced on me. I also will not purchase a battery voice remote separately because I shouldn't have to. I think this was a very bad move on the part of Roku.
