I've noticed as of late my Voice Remote pro (Model RC701) has been having connectivity issues - The TV will show that the remote is stuck in a cycle of pairing & unpairing with My TV (TCL Model 40S355), and as a result, it is causing the remote's battery to drain within hours. Trying to manually reset and re-pair the remote using the pairing button on the back seldom works as the remote already unpairs itself before the full 20 second holding cycle, even when i try to disconnect & reset the remote. It's currently on Firmware Version RTN4246 - by any chance could there be an update responsible for this?

Firstly, is this the remote that comes with your TCL Roku TV? If not, did the issue start happening even the first time you paired it? It is highly recommended that you use the remote that comes with your TCL Roku TV, as they manufacture their own remote that works well with their TV.

No, this is not the original remote, But the issue has only started happening with it as of a few weeks ago
