I didn't say a thing about USSB, but you only mention Directv, History of Directv:
You're in thread dealing with number commands for Roku, I gave you the answer to that, you have to have an aftermarket universal remote. Amazon Fire tv, Android tv, nor Apple tv devices have access to number keys on their remotes. And an aftermarket remote won't give it to them like it does with Roku. Once one oif these services come out with remote with number keys, they ALL will soon after.
@Tivoburkee You said, :you would have to initially enter a 5-digit code into the remote for each digit, one at a time."
Where would we find these 5-digit codes?
UEI made universal remotes have had advanced codes or efc's in their remotes since the 1980's, so I did brute force search. Started at 00000 and went up to 00255, after that they repeat. This what I found:
0- 00101
1- 00230
2- 00232
3- 00228
4- 00235
5- 00231
6- 00233
7- 00100
8- 00106
9- 00102
Ch Up- 00183
Ch Down- 00185
To map them to a key on the UEI remote: First you have to program the Roku device key with setup code 3061 or 03061 depending on the remote you have. Then:
1. Roku device key
2. Press and hold SETUP for two blinks, release
3. Enter 9 9 4
4. Tap SETUP for one blink
5. enter 5 digit code
6. Pick a key
Now do that for each command, using a different number in Step 5, and picking a different key in Step 6.
