Roku "voice" remote will not work volume and mute with Vizio sound bar.
Both of my TVs are newer model Roku, they both have the same model Vizio sound bar on them. The remotes that came with the TVs will work with the learning function of the Vizio sound bar to control volume and mute. However when I purchase Roku voice remotes I cannot get them to work with the vizio's learn function with volume up down and mute. I have tried different voice remotes but none of them will work with the Vizio sound bars learn function. The sound bars are older model vizios and do not have HDMI, and are connected by a optical. I don't understand why the remotes that came with the TV will work, but voice remotes will not.
Did you set up the remotes to control some TV? I don't know if the buttons do anything until the remote is set up to control a TV.
Edit: I missed the part where they were Roku TVs. @Tivoburkee 's response is better.
When Roku voice remote is paired to Roku tv it now controls the Roku tv by Wifi, including volume and mute. So, the Roku remote is not emitting IR commands that your soundbar can learn.
Thanks for the replies. Guess I'm just not going to use a voice remote. I'm not going to buy a new speaker just to have a voice remote.
Thanks again
