I am having same issue.
It used to work and then stopped.
None of these have worked. Any other suggestions?
A warm welcome to the Roku Community, @Steverc99!
I appreciate you reaching out for support and the troubleshooting you've tried. I'd be happy to help you with the issues you're currently experiencing on your Roku Players (simple) remote.
As I've checked, your Roku Express is no longer under warranty, but no worries! You may visit our official Roku Product | Accessories website and look for our available Roku Players (simple) remote offers.
Also, please consider checking our support article on Roku's limited warranty.
I hope you find this information helpful.
Best regards,
Carly
@Steverc99 There is no pairing button because that remote is IR based, and doesn't need to be paired with a device.
Since it is IR, you can often find inexpensive (less than $10) universal IR remotes almost anywhere that sells electronic devices. Just make sure the package says Roku players are included. I've seen some that state they are pre-programmed with the Roku IR codes, so they're ready to go right out of the box.
There's a way to test your IR remote to see if it's working. Look at the front of the remote (the end you point at the Roku player) and view it through a digital camera (such as a phone camera). When you press any button on the remote you should see a blinking light through the camera. No blinking light, the remote is not working. If you do see a blinking light, then make sure there's nothing blocking the front of your Roku and the remote has clear line of sight to the player.

I downloading Roku updates per the message I received from ROKU and now my what I believe is a Simple Remote is not working. Problem with remote is definitely caused by the software updates. No doubt in my mind. When I depress the Home button and get the Home screen information it keeps scrolling. Can't stop the scrolling to choose any options.
Should read "downloaded" not "downloading".

Your problem is not the same issue as the topic of this thread. But since you're here, here's something you can try. If you haven't already, install the Roku app on a smart phone or tablet. There is an app for both iOS and Android devices. (Naturally, if you don't have such a device you can't do this). As long as your network is working correctly and your Roku and device are both on the same network, the app will see your Roku and allow you to control it as if you were using the remote. It the problem persists using the app, then there is an issue with your Roku. If using the app controls the Roku without a problem, then the issue is the remote, not the player.
NOTE: when you go into your device's app store (iTunes or Google Play) make certain you get the official Roku app, and not one from a 3rd party. Some try to make their app look "official" but they want you to pay to be able to use it. The Roku app never asks for payment for any functionality.

Without a working remote, it's impossible to connect a Roku to a WiFi network. Depending on your Roku, you could pick up an inexpensive IR universal remote. But since your question wasn't in English, I'm assuming you are located outside the US. I can't make any suggestions where you would find such a remote, other than online sources.
