Same roku stick we've used for years. Remote has worked fine since we bought a very expensive roku replacement remote for over a year. suddenly it has this issue with no change to the room or other devices in our home.
replaced batteries with fresh batteries showing full green bars. repaired the remote with the roku.
issue remains. it's a roku problem.

I was able to fix this by using a different HDMI port on my TV. Seems to have fixed it for now.
My issue sounds identical. In use for a long time, no changes, fresh batteries, new Roku stick, new remote, still skipped menu items. I changed to a different HDMI on my TV and it seems to have solved it for now. It makes no sense, but hopefully that helps, if you have another HDMI port. Good luck!
If you're experiencing the same problem even after removing the batteries from the remote and power cycling your Roku stick, it's possible that the issue lies with the Roku stick itself or with the audio settings on the device. Here are a few additional steps you can try:
Audio settings on Roku Stick: Go to the Roku home screen, navigate to Settings > Audio > HDMI, and ensure the correct audio output option is selected. Try changing the audio output from "Auto" to "Stereo" or "Dolby Digital" to see if that resolves the issue.
HDMI port: Try plugging your Roku stick into a different HDMI port on your TV. This will help determine if the issue is related to a specific HDMI port.
Test with another TV: If possible, try connecting your Roku stick to a different TV to see if the audio issue persists. This will help identify if the problem is specific to the Roku stick or related to the TV's audio settings.
Factory reset: Perform a factory reset on your Roku stick to reset all settings and preferences. To do this, go to Settings > System > Advanced system settings > Factory reset. Keep in mind that this will erase all data on the Roku stick, so you'll need to set it up again from scratch.
Contact Roku support: If the issue persists after trying the above steps, it's recommended to contact Roku support directly for further assistance. They will have access to more specific troubleshooting options and can provide personalized guidance based on your Roku stick model and the specific issue you're facing.
By following these steps and reaching out to Roku support, you should be able to get closer to resolving the audio problem with your Roku stick.
It’s now plugged into a wall outlet, but still has the same issues.
