Remote not working after factory reset

I did a factory reset after moving, tv would not connect to the new wireless internet. Now, it won't even get off the "let's get started" screen. Stupid remote will only turn the tv on and off, but won't allow anything else to happen. It's a standard remote, have taken the batteries our. Tried new ones, unplugging and replacing. Everything that is mentioned in their "guides".

Re: Not working after factory reset

“standard” remote means Wi-Fi or IR?  A Wi-Fi remote probably needs to be paired after a factory reset.  An IR remote needs a clear line of site from Remote to IR sensor.

You haven’t listed a model or even whether it’s a player or a TV.  I think most TVs come with IR remotes but can be paired with Wi-Fi remotes.

Make sure the batteries are in in the right direction.  Some roku remotes have both batteries oriented the same way, and people are so used to things having the batteries flipped, that they habitually install them that way.

By the way, for future reference, you shouldn’t need to do a factory reset after a move.  Settings -> Network -> Setup connection is a much less disruptive way to change to a new network.  Factory reset is good for when you sell or otherwise get rid of a Roku (or anything other networked/signed-in-to-anything device.)

Banned but back. Because why not?
