I've had a Roku Express 3930 (simple remote) for six months now with no problems but a week ago the remote started loading Spotify as soon as the device turns on. I can see the lights on the remote flashing like a button is being pushed repeatedly (and the device lighting up like it is receiving) but obviously I'm not pushing the Spotify button. I can't even get to the home page before Spotify loads and can't leave Spotify either because the button is still being 'pushed'. I've unplugged the device, pushed the reset button on the device and swapped out the batteries in the remote for brand new with no success. Can anyone help?
If you have a Spotify shortcut button on your remote, it sounds like it is stuck in the depressed position.
That was my first thought. My remote does have a Spotify button but it doesn't appear to be the problem. It still goes in and out like the rest of the buttons and clicks as the rest. I don't even use Spotify so the button is pristine still and it can't be from overuse because I don't even use it.
@WillCohen89, when you see the light on the device flashing like it's receiving button presses, take the batteries out of the remote. If the flashing stops, it's the remote.
I did. It is the remote. I need to know how to fix it. It's not old or damaged.
@WillCohen89, if it's less than a year old it should still be under warranty. You may be able to contact support at https://my.roku.com and get them to send you a replacement or go through the process:

If it's more than a year old, take it apart and try to clean the contacts. They're a pain to get apart, but they just snap together with possibly one screw in the battery compartment.
