I got a new remote yesterday and successfully paired and used the remote for all of 24 hours. Now the remote will only adjust the volume up and down. No other buttons are working. What the heck happened and how do I fix it?
@mackcarlson You do not indicate what Roku device you have. If your remote is a voice remote it has a pairing button in the battery case. Press and hold this for at least 5 seconds. It should flash and pair with your device. If this does not work tell us the model number of your Roku device.
I have a roku voice remote but without the pairing button in the inside. I followed the instructions to hold the home and back buttons for 5 seconds. That paired my remote initially on Monday. I tried to repair the remote using the same method Tuesday night but the roku wouldn’t pick recognize the remote. That said, as of now it still will control volume.
@mackcarlson I found this on the Roku website
Re-pair your voice remote to your streaming device
Put your streaming device in pairing mode:
Put your voice remote in pairing mode:
button for 5 seconds, or until you see the status light begin to flash.
Once you streaming device and remote are connected, the pairing dialog will appear on your TV screen.
Replace your remote batteries
@HDMIGuy thank you, I found that as well. It is a voice remote, it has the voice command button right under the arrow controls. Number 5 gets you into pairing without the button but the roku wouldn’t connect to the remote
My pairing method (that hasn't failed me yet) differs slightly from those steps. I only connect the power to the Roku device once the pairing light is flashing and I set the remote down close to the device before I connect the power.
If you have any other Roku devices you may want to disconnect the power to them just in case they're interfering in the pairing process. Just out of curiosity, is the Roku device still connected to your Network? Can you use the app on your phone/tablet to control it (not suggesting that as a fix)?
One other thing - batteries can make a big difference. I've had batteries that will work fine once the remote is paired, but won't get the remote paired in the first place. Don't assume the batteries that came with the remote are any good.
I have a voice remote, only power and volume buttons are working. I have disconnected power, removed batteries and held down the repairing button. It does not flash when you hold the button down. How do I fix my remote?
