Remote Interference on Express

Jump to solution

I purchased a new Vizio v Series 50 1080p SmartTV. Works great, awesome. However, the Vizio TV remote control is causing interference. I know this to be true, because I "scientifically" diagnosed the issue, so to speak. I set the TV input to HDMI-3 (Roku Express), goes to Roku Home, but quickly, the Roku device blinks constantly, AND the Roku Remote jumps about, skips, scrolls fast, and unable to control whatsoever. But, as a diagnosis, I removed the batteries from the Vizio TV remote, and symptoms clear immediately, the Roku remote operates as intended. I put the batteries back into the TV remote, erratic symptoms return (or as an alternative, I take the TV remote "out of range" to another part of the house, symptoms clear). Is there anyway to disable the interference of the TV remote. As a side-solution, I am using the Roku Mobile App to control, but that isn't ideal... thoughts please and thank you.

A warm welcome here in the Roku Community, @DempseyN!

We appreciate you reaching out and providing us with precise information about your concern.

The interference you have observed is because of the infrared (IR) light that transmits button presses. Using your Roku remote would be the most ideal option to resolve this and it is highly recommended.

If there's anything else we can be of assistance with, please don't hesitate to let us know. We hope this clears everything out.

Best regards,
Carly
