Does anyone know how to open the back cover of this roku remote?
You can't, that's a rechargeable Roku remote, you'll see a usb port under the Roku flag for you plug in usb cable and charge the remote. There is no battery door at all.

Oops, thanks for info. I was looking for something that does not exist.
I still want to know the proper way to open it. Less than 30 days after purchasing, it no longer works without being on charge and while on charge it spams the TV with charging/battery full message. I am going to fix it, not pay $1/day to use this piece of plastic.
At less than 30 days, I’d return it to the store for a refund or exchange. But if you really want to, people have pried them open. Here’s a thread where @renojim shows a picture of one that has been opened.

t would help if that information was in the instructions when I purchased the remote.
If you're in town, go to an auto parts store and grab some plastic pry tools. Start at the back at the flag and work your way around. I did this to cut the connect disks off of the "quick buttons" because well... They're useless. Hope this helps.
Thanks for this post! I’ve had this remote in use for a few months and never had to charge it. Battery charge lasts a long time! I had to look up how to open the unit to replace the batteries and this post gave the perfect answer! I did not know they changed from batteries to rechargeable. Been using Roku for years and this one is different. Recharging now! Again, thanks!
