I have an older TCL Roku TV. Just bought a Roku Express with a new rechargeable remote. I was able to pair the new remote but since I need to now hook up the express box up to the tv via HDMI cable, every time I turn the tv on I need to use the OLD remote to select my HDMI input port in order to connect to the Roku express box. Is there anyway I could access the TV function with my new remote instead of having to use 2 remotes? Is there anyway I could have the Roku express come on without having to always select the HDMI input from my tv first?
Thank you
BTW I am really disappointed with ROKU that they do not support the express device especially since it is a brand new purchase. It would be so much easier to email them for support.
In order to have the Express device set as the default HDMI, go into the RokuTV settings to the "power on" selection and choose the HDMI port that your Roku Express is using (using the old RokuTV remote).
Settings/System/Power on [select your preferred HDMI Input]
After adjusting this setting, the Express should come on each time you turn on the RokuTV now.

You can use the new Voice remote to power the older RokuTV on/off and control volume, but need to use the second remote to access the Antenna/OTA input and the "Settings". The remote only pairs to one device at a time.
The above setup is very similar/same as when you connect a Roku device to any non-Roku TV. Still normally need to keep the second remote around to access the Antenna/OTA and to change settings native to the TV.
There are likely some universal streaming remotes that you can use to switch inputs between the RokuTV and the Roku Express to eliminate the need to use two remotes. (these will be IR based remotes, something similar to this remote). Perhaps @Tivoburkee and others have suggestions for you.
You could also use the Roku mobile app to switch between the two Roku devices if you don't mind using your phone/tablet as a remote as well. (just have to select which device to control from the screen). https://support.roku.com/article/217288467
