I am not a fan of the Roku remote. The location of the volume and mute buttons on the side are clumsy at best. I find myself accidentally changing the volume or setting the volume to mute. For those reasons, I purchased an Inteset universal learning remote. It works well with the Roku stream bar I have except for one problem. I can't get the Inteset remote to learn the Roku volume and mute commands.
Does anyone have experience transferring Roku remote commands to a universal remote?
If you're using roku code 03061 for the roku streambar? What's great about the Inteset remote is it gives you access to discrete commands like the volume and mute for the streambar by using efc's, these are 5 digit codes for individual functions. So you have to map each one at a time:
1. roku device
2. press and hold SET for two blinks release
3. enter 9 9 4
4. tap SET for one blink
5. enter 0 0 1 3 4
6. press VOLUME UP KEY
repeat for volume down:
1. roku device
2. press and hold SET for two blinks release
3. enter 9 9 4
4. tap SET for one blink
5. enter 0 0 1 3 6
6. press VOLUME DOWN KEY
For mute:
1. roku device
2. press and hold SET for two blinks release
3. enter 9 9 4
4. tap SET for one blink
5. enter 0 0 1 4 0
6. press MUTE KEY
These commands initiate CEC signal in the roku which sends a command over the hdmi cable to control the tv its connected with.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Will the steps you show allow me to control the volume of the streambar from the Internet remote?
Yes, and that's Inteset remote.
Thanks again.
The above instructions worked for my Inteset 422-3 universal remote. I can now control the volume for the stream bar through this remote.
Those same instructions using these codes will give you access to discrete ch commands:

On Roku ultra remote there are two keys 1 & 2 that hold voice search prompt, for channels like You tube tv that don't have discrete of their own. The Inteset remote will give access to three programmable keys call them 1,2,&3. Initially you will need to use the voice microphone key on your streambar remote to speak the search, but if you like the results just press and 1, 2, or 3 key to memorize it with inteset remote. here are the codes:
#1 key 00038
#2 key 00040
#3 key 00042
Cannot get these setting to work in step 1 Roku device what button do i hit
Whatever device has setup code 03061 programmed to it, A, B, C or D.
These commands are only for stand alone roku's that accept IR commands. These won't work on roku tv's. Roku tv using setup code 14398 have their own list of codes.
@JWBunning The default settings for the Inteset remote uses the 'D' button for the Roku device. Check the user manual for the Inteset for more info.
