How to reset a Roku Stick remote that was also paired to a Roku TV?

My Rokustick doesn't have an option to remove a remote, only add a new one.

I made the mistake of pairing my rokustick remote to the Roku TV at my hotel, and now it won't work on my rokustick.

If I press the home and back buttons on the Roku Stick remote while using the Roku Stick, it just opens up the Roku TV.

I've tried rebooting and unplugging the Roku Stick, removed the batteries as well.

Note that the Roku TV doesn't have an option to remove the remote either.

Any leads on how I can essentially unbrick my Roku Stick remote so that I don't have to resort to only the riphone remote?

Thanks!

This doesn't work either for me.

Re: Upgraded my remote but Roku will not "forget' other one

Hello, @collegesportsin,

Thank you for reaching out to the Roku community! We appreciate your efforts in attempting to remove the remote paired with your Roku TV. We would be happy to assist you in pairing your Roku remote with your Roku Stick.

It’s important to note that you do not need to unpair or remove your Roku remote from the Roku TV, you can easily pair it directly with your Roku stick instead.

To help you with this process, please follow these steps:

  1. Ensure the remote is pointed at your Roku Stick and not the Roku TV during pairing.
  2. Remove the power cord from your streaming device
  3. Wait for a minimum of 5 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power cord.
  5. After powering the TV back on, and once you reach the Home screen press and hold the Home and Back buttons on your remote for 5 seconds

Hope you'll find this info useful. Let us know in case you still have any questions.

Thanks,
Jharra
