Seems like I've run into problems with an array of Roku Remotes. Yet, I just keep buying them. Ugghh.
I upgraded to the 2nd edition of Roku Voice Remote Pro about a month ago. I bought two. It was the backlit feature that really hooked me.
However, after the first recharge I've run into issues. The battery icon shows on my ONN TVs randomly. Also, I now have to hit each button twice in order for the command to work. For example, I press pause; instead of the content pausing that annoying battery icon (the one that pops up randomly about 25 times an hour) appears. In order to achieve the pause I have to hit the button a second time. This happens every single time I push a button on the remote.
Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone know of a remedy? I've paired and re-paired the remotes, etc.
I am using the remotes on a 42" onn. Roku TV activated on January 16, 2023 and a 50" onn. Roku TV that was activated on September 9, 2022.
Thank you!
You'll see lots of people with similar reports. The battery icon popping up is an indication that it's losing and reestablishing its connection. It may be accompanied by poor battery life. I don't know if anyone knows the solution, but given that the remote uses the same Wi-Fi channel as the Roku device (assuming your device is not wired), I'd try a different Wi-Fi channel or a different Wi-Fi band (2.4 vs. 5 GHz).
Welcome, and thank you for posting here in the Roku Community, @BobH8!
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Rest assured that I will coordinate with the appropriate Roku team to investigate further your Roku Voice Remote Pro (2nd edition).
With this being said, kindly let me know the following:
In the meantime, I highly suggest resetting your remote by pressing and holding the Back and Home buttons simultaneously for about 20 seconds. After doing so, pair it again to see if this corrects the voice command and stop prompting the battery notification.
Your update is highly anticipated.
Best regards,
Carly
