Use streaming player as automation starter in Google Home app

Streaming players appear in the list of Google Home automation starter devices and currently support "Turns on or off."  Changing the on/off state does not, however, actually trigger the routine.

Is anyone able to use a streaming player as a Google Home automation starter?

Getting it done and doing it right are not mutually exclusive.

Re: Use streaming player as automation starter in Google Home app

Hi @TomDavis,

Thank you for posting here in the Roku Community!

We'll be more than happy to answer your inquiry. Please be advised that you can use a streaming player like a Chromecast or a Google TV streamer as a Google Home automation starter. This means you can initiate a Google Home routine by interacting with the streaming device through voice commands on your TV using the Google Assistant; essentially, you can "Ok Google" on your TV to start a home automation sequence.

We hope this helps.

All the best,
John
