Have you tried going into the Android settings and clearing the cache and all data before performing the uninstall? Also verify that you are not running any firewall apps on on your Android device.
1. Go to your Android Settings, and then Apps.
2. Find the Roku mobile app. (Roku).
3. Select Force Stop, then Ok.
4. Select Storage. If it gets stuck on Storage (ie. computing message), press Storage again.
5. Clear Cache. Then clear Data.
6. Then back out to previous screen and select Uninstall.
7. Restart your phone.
8. Reinstall the Roku mobile app.

Hate to see you have you reset a phone just for the Roku mobile app to work. Private Listening works on my Android without issue, but is a Motorola with Android v7.1.1
@AvsGunnar you are an absolute life saver and need to receive a commission cut from Roku for your genius. It Worked!!! Thank you! Back to the little slice of happiness I have at night before bed!!
Any chance someone knows how to do this for an iphone? We've been posting about this for over a year, with zero help from Roku. App crashes as soon as we hit private listening. Just wondering if there's similar steps in iOS that will accomplish the same thing. Long shot, perhaps, but worth a try.
Hi @plainjanedfw,
Thanks for your post.
Have you tried uninstalling the app and reinstall it again? Does this clear the issue you are seeing?
The Roku app for iOS is compatible with Apple devices running iOS version 11.0 or higher. Visit the App Store® on your Apple device (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch), or visit the online App Store to re-download the Roku mobile app for iOS.
Keep us posted.
