watching tv and a "device is overheating" warning popped up on the screen. what's up with that? will the device fail if left plugged in?
Hi @kptnjak,
Thanks for making your firs post here in the Roku Community and for reaching out about this issue.
The overheating of your Roku device can be a common problem if it is kept in a closed space or has poor ventilation. You should try transferring it to a cooler location in this case. It can stop your gadget from overheating once more.
Or let us know if you're observing this behavior lately. You can also refer to our support page here if you'll see the issue coming back again: What to do if the red light is on or you see a “Your device is overheating” message.
Thanks,
Rey
@kptnjakWhat model Roku, where is it placed and is there air circulation around it? Roku devices can run warm and if they're sitting on top of an AVR or other device that's warm to the touch, they will overheat. Its also important there's plenty of air space around the player, so you might try moving it and see if that helps
