Media option missing from Roku app

Jump to solution

This explains the problem but it doesn't solve the issue. Surely being able to show my own videos on my own tv without having to screen mirror is a standard feature? Like so basic I'd choose a Chromecast over a Roku because of it

Literally just add the feature back in… It was good and useful exactly as it was, and now it’s gone for no sensible reason

I agree with the original poster that Screen Mirroring and Airplay are poor substitutes for this functionality.  Furthermore, if you search on Google for how to show a photo on a Roku, the instructions for using the Media tab are still the first result, and it takes you to the Roku website which still shows that now-incorrect info about using the Media tab.

I also agree with the OP that this was a dumb decision and is a good reason to NOT choose Roku in the future.  You took something that was useful and working, neglected to update your website about how to use it, and just made everything less useful and more frustrating.
