Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the Roku Backdrops on your Roku TV. We appreciate your interest and are happy to provide you with all the details you need to enhance your viewing experience.

To enable Backdrops on your Roku TV, locate the Backdrops app in the Settings menu. Navigate to Home Screen Menu > Backdrops > Open Backdrops App, or find it in your home screen tile grid. If you don't see it, search for "Backdrops" in the Streaming Store.

Do you see the Backdrops app on your home screen? If you've searched for the Backdrop app on your home screen or in the Streaming Store and it doesn't show up, your Roku TV may not support the Backdrops feature yet. To check if you have the latest software version, go to Settings > System > Software Update > Check Now and look for software updates. 

Here's how to use Backdrops:

How to set a collection as your Backdrop

  1. In the Backdrops app, choose a collection you like by clicking on it (e.g. Claude Monet)
  2. On the collection page, at the top, select either "Set as Backdrop" or "Start Backdrops"
    a. Select Set as Backdrop to set this collection as your Backdrop collection.
    b. Then select Start Backdrops to display your Backdrops collection.

How to set a single image as your Backdrop

  1. Click on the image you want to set as your Backdrop.
  2. From that specific image, click "Start Backdrops."
  • Note: When only a single image displays in Backdrops, if you select 
     
     to show the Backdrops Options menu, you will see that "Image Duration" is set to "Don't Change."

How to start Backdrops

After you've enabled Backdrops and picked a collection, there are 5 easy ways to Start Backdrops.

  1. Using your Remote's Power Button: After Backdrops is enabled, press your remote's power button to start Backdrops if you want to turn off your TV, long press and hold down on your power button.
  • Note: The Roku mobile app's power button will not start Backdrops.
  1. From a Collection: Go to the Backdrops App > Collections > Start Backdrop
  2. From a specific app image: Go to the Backdrops App > Select a specific image > Start Backdrop
  3. Using Auto Start: To allow Backdrops to auto start after you have gone idle, go to Home > Settings > System > Power and turn on Auto Power Savings.
  4. Using Roku Voice: Press your remote's mic button or say "Hey Roku" then say either "Start Backdrops" or "Stop Backdrops."

How to create a Backdrops My Favorites album

My Favorites contains all the images you've favored. You can add both single images or entire collections to My Favorites.

  1. To add an Entire Collection to My Favorites: Go to that collection > click the "Add all to My Favorites" button
  2. To add a Specific Image, Go to that image > click 
     
     > Click "Add to My Favorites"

To view your My Favorites album, go up to the Recommended row and find My Favorites.
