Express 4k+ - Green Light on or off?

I have 2 Express 4k+ devices. On one, the green light stays on whether watching TV or not. On the other,  the light goes out when not watching.

If the device us always powered, why does the light go out?

Thanks.

Re: Express 4k+ - Green Light on or off?

@KenSRQ

The little LED light will normally go off when the Roku device enters a "sleep mode" after a period of inactivity.  Pressing the Home button on the Roku device will "wake" the device and the light should return.  This light will also pulse normally when using the Roku remote, and begin to flash when loses network connection/searching for wireless connection.

On older Roku devices, the above is the norm.  However, some recent updates to Roku OS have done some strange things to different Roku devices and is reported that the light may not behave in a typical manner anymore. (some stay on all the time, others fail to light at all).

On some of the newer devices, there is also a Power Savings feature under Settings/System/Power/Auto-Power Savings/20-min inactivity.  This has also been reported to affected to some devices depending on whether set to on/off. (on others, made no difference).

When you are finished streaming, remember to press the Home button to end the session.  If you simply press the Power button on the Roku remote, the Roku device will continue to stream away in the background and the light will remain on. (unless Power Savings or Bandwidth Saver is enabled in the Settings).  The Power and Volume buttons on a Roku Remote are strictly TV controls and have no affect on the Roku device itself.
