how can I get back drops to auto start as screen saver?

  2. Select Settings
  3. Select System

I think the best you can do on the RokuTV is to enable Auto Power Savings. (Settings/System/Power/Auto Power Savings).

You may also have to disable the Screensaver under Settings/Themes.
