Always On Captions Not Working

Jump to solution

Anybody having an issue with the 'Always On' captions not working on Max?  It started about 2-3 weeks ago and so far Max is unable to fix it(Have sent multiple complaints).  Anytime  you change to another title or episode within any tv show, it goes off & you have to choose captions again.  Using the Max caption option in lower right of the screen makes no difference.  ROKU FIX THIS.   It is happening on other apps too but not as bad as Max.  DO SOMETHING.

Thank you for posting here in the Roku Community, @dragonboots2005!

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and understand how this may have caused such inconvenience when streaming.

In addition to what @MrXxx posted, the channel provider is responsible for how they run their channel on the Roku streaming platform. Enabling the closed captioning feature directly on your Roku Settings won't guarantee that it will also allow their CC inside their channel.

Please be advised that the majority of content on the Roku platform comes from streaming channels maintained and updated independently by the channel's provider.

In the meantime, you can highlight Max's channel tile and press the star (*) button on your remote to update it. We hope you get everything sorted out soon and appreciate you bearing with us at the moment.

Best regards,
Carly

MAX is an HBO product and Roku can't fix anything with it. You've already notified MAX (as you said), and I'm sure others have as well. Patience is a virtue. Screaming to the Roku community won't solve the issue because it's not a Roku issue. Time is a healer and it takes time for bugs to be fixed. MAX had a serious issue with rewinding that is nearly fixed now. It took around six months to fix. It is what it is. This too will be fixed. Remember, streaming tech is in its infancy. Bugs are inevitable at this early stage of the game.
