Troubleshooting a Blank TV Screen

Hi Roku Community users!

Is your TV screen blank, but the TV is powered on? Let's work together to get your TV back to life!

Here are some troubleshooting steps to try:

  1. Check the Basics:

    • Power Supply: Ensure the TV is plugged in securely and the power outlet is working.
    • Cable Connections: Verify that all cables (power, HDMI, etc.) are firmly connected to both the TV and your source device (e.g., cable box, game console).
    • Input Source: Make sure your TV is set to the correct input source (e.g., HDMI 1, HDMI 2, AV).
  2. Wake Up Mode:

    • Some TVs have a "wake up" mode. Press any button on the TV remote or the TV itself to wake it up.
  3. HDMI-CEC:

    • Ensure HDMI-CEC is enabled on your TV. This feature allows devices connected to the TV to control each other. Check your TV's settings for the HDMI-CEC option and enable it.
  4. Restart Your TV:

    • Turn off your TV, wait a few moments, then turn it back on.
    • Or, unplug the TV from the power source, wait 10-15 seconds, then plug it back in.
  5. Factory Reset:

    • As a last resort, you can try performing a factory reset. Please note that this will erase all settings and data on your TV. Refer to your TV's user manual for specific instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
