Hi @Heatherlcurran,
Thanks for letting us know, and welcome to the Roku Community!
We would like to gather more details about this issue you had. Can you please provide the following information?
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Thanks,
John
I have seen a lot of posts about this problem where the Roku system functions fine, until you select a video to display from an app or from an input source. Then the screen goes black and you can hear the sound and you can read the subtitles, but there is no picture.
Many people on this board are calling this a backlight issue, but that makes zero sense as the backlight is needed for the menus and Home Screen as well and those function normally.
I have also seen reports of this happening with Roku devices and well and different brands of Roku Tvs, which again means it is not a backlight issue.
Despite what Roku support will tell you, this is not a hardware issue and is 100% a software issue with Roku. It is like the OS forgets how to decode the video signal coming from the apps or input sources. [Yes there are cases where the backlight will fail, but this is not one of them...If your menu works, your backlight is fine]
This happened to my TCL Roku Tv and I was able to fix it with a full factory reset in the advanced system settings. Good luck if this is happening to you.
