My Roku TV model 65R6AX screen goes black with sound. PLEASE HELP

Hi, my Roku TV screen goes black with sound. I have to turn TV off to get picture back. This happens about two to four times a day. I unplugged the TV over night and it did not work (it would be fine for about a week). I did a factory reset and it did not work. I purchased the TV a couple of months ago and it started two weeks after the setup. I also purchased two other Roku TVs and they work fine.

We want to investigate this issue you had with the Roku TV further since the screen is black, but the sound is working. Can you please provide the following information below?

  • What is the brand of your Roku TV? (TCL, Onn, RCA, Roku or etc.) If it is Roku, could you provide us with the serial number? You may use this support article to determine whether you have a Roku TV or a Roku-branded TV.
  • When did the issue start?
  • Could you provide us with a photo or video clip?

I'm also experiencing this error. It happens intermittently. I purchased the TV about 6-8 months ago and it is Roku TV Model #: 65R6AX with the SN: X01300LG5KE. The screen will go black, but will maintain sound, during a show or sporting event and I will have to turn the tv off and back on to get picture back .

I called Roku support. They had me do some troubleshooting. Everything they told me to do, I already did it several times. They finally agreed to send me a replacement TV. It seems like many people are experiencing the same issue.

  1. Is there a specific input that’s not showing?
  2. Are all the cables (power, HDMI, etc.) securely plugged in?
  3. Can the TV exit "wake up" mode?

Troubleshooting steps:

  • Make sure your power cord is securely plugged in and that the device is receiving power.
  • Check the input source you’re trying to watch and ensure it’s selected correctly.
  • Confirm that video cables (HDMI) are properly connected.
  • If possible, access the TV settings to ensure:
    • The TV can "wake up" from sleep mode.
    • HDMI-CEC is enabled on the TV (this helps with communication between devices).
  • Restart your TV.
  • If the issue persists, consider performing a factory reset (this will erase settings, so try it as a last step).
