Pro Series TV with wireless 4.1/5.1 setup?

Jump to solution

I see the just-released Pro Series TV's "Soundstage Audio" uses side-firing drivers for Atmos. Now the other lines of Roku TV wireless 4.1 setups use a soundbar/rear satellites/subwoofer; I've seen people then add another pair of satellites to the 4.1 setup as front satellites for a 5.1 setup.

On a Pro Series TV do we use the same above mentioned speaker arrangements for wireless 4.1/5.1 systems? Will the TV's side-firing drivers still be firing as Atmos channels?

A warm welcome here in the Roku Community, @R0kus3r!

We appreciate you reaching out for support about the audio setup on the Roku Pro Series TV, and we'd like to provide more information about this.

When connecting external audio to your Roku Pro Series TV device, it is essential to remember that the TV speakers should not be used. It is a standard functionality among other Roku TV models. The audio will automatically turn off once you attach a Roku TV speaker.

For reference, we have a Support article dedicated to how to set up a Roku surround sound system.

Let us know if you need further clarification!

Yup I've seen that article; since it hasn't been updated yet to include the Pro Series I was curious if there were changes in the configuration with the new side firing internal speakers 👍

Roku Fans, Be Careful Before You Buy Pro Series TV

Jump to solution

Roku appears to have purposely made the pro series TVs incompatible with 5.1 (Streambar Pro + 4 wireless Roku speakers And Roku sub) configurations.

This appears to be an effort to force you to buy the new Roku TV Wireless Soundbar.

If you're considering buying one of these TVs to continue using your Roku 5.1 - don't bother.
