Roku 2022 Streaming Soundbar compatability with pre-ARC Sony Bravia TV

Hi. I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40XBR2 TV. It works great but dates back to 2006, so no Smart TV and no HDMI-ARC. It does have two HDMI ports and an optical port.

The Roku Streaming Soundbar seems to be a good fit. The streaming channel video and audio work great. But the TV audio will not play through the soundbar; the TV’s audio overrides the soundbar.

I’m using both the HDMI and optical cables.

Anything I can do? Or is TV just too old since it lacks HDMI-ARC?

It probably is the optical cable, its either not seated right at one of the ends or both, or the cable is bad. It's made of glass a wrong bend and it may crack?
