The owner of Roku know full well that there's a problem with the screen blacking out and will do nothing unless the warranty is still good but if you have had the TV for longer then a year they want you to pay out of pocket to fix it this is a scam people since the owners know about it. It is on them to pay to have it fixed otherwise more people will be cheated out of their hard earned money to fix a problem that the owners know full well about and did nothing about.
Hi Roku Community users,
If you're experiencing a blank screen with audio on your Roku TV, don't worry—here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Check the Basics:
Wake-Up Mode: Some TVs have a “wake up” mode that may cause a delayed picture. Try pressing any button on the TV remote or on the TV itself to wake it up.
HDMI-CEC Settings: Ensure that HDMI-CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) is enabled on your TV. This feature allows devices connected to your TV (such as a Roku or game console) to control the TV and may help resolve display issues. Check your TV's settings and enable the HDMI-CEC option.
Restart Your TV:
Factory Reset (Last Resort): If none of the above steps work, you can try performing a factory reset on your Roku TV. Please note that this will erase all your settings and data, so it's important to be sure before proceeding. You can refer to your TV's user manual for specific instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
If you continue to experience issues after trying these steps, please consult your TV's user manual or contact the manufacturer's support for further assistance.
For better visibility and reference, we'll mark this post as solved once the issue is resolved.

I been seeing people having this issue all over the Internet...so your saying If what I described is happening then this is trash? ...this is terrible....I'm a broke mom n just bought that TV for my family for Christmas...wth???
It isn't the TV, it is a software issue. It is 100% a Roku issue, not a TV model issue, that is why it is reported by customers with different TV brands and models. It is most likely a firmware issue and I'm not sure why Roku won't just acknowledge this. 1 solution would be to allow customers to turn off auto updates, as it is obvious that some Roku software update is causing the issue.
Mine as well I tried the flashlight test and I can't see anything but can hear it
Hi Community users!
Thank you for keeping us updated.
We understand that the black screen issues with your Roku TV are persistent; at this point, we would recommend performing a factory reset with your Roku TV by locating the reset button at the back of the TV, pressing and holding it for 10 seconds.
Let us know if this helps.
All the best,
Janadee
Help me find a way to fix my JVC 70’ Roku symbol flashing on a Nosck screen.
For me I unplugged the tv from the surge protector and plugged it directly into the outlet. It started working again after I did this.
This same thing happened to me. Unfortunately the Roku specialist and the Roku specialist that they had sent out to my home to pick up the TV both said this is a backlight issue. The backlight went out. It will be more expensive to replace a backlight than buy a new tv. If your TV is more than one year old TCL or Roku will not help you. Fortunately for me my TV was less than a year old. Even on the back of my TV you could see that it was made in August 2023. That's not even a year from now.
What a relief that that work for you. I wish it did for me. I ended up having to make a claim, they sent a specialist out to my house and replaced the TV. The TV is only 9 months old
I have a 70" Roku TV and the screen went black but everything else still works. It has sound and I can hear the cursor moving when I use the remote. From what I've seen, this is a very common and ongoing problem. My TV is less than 3 years old. It would cost a lot of money to bring it to a repair place to get it fixed. I tried every recommendation to fix the problem and nothing worked.
