Light is flickering on television

My tv keeps going to one app as if I’m controlling it, but I am not. It also keeps making clicking noises. Everytime I try to go to a different app, it takes me back to the app it wants me to go to. It just randomly started to do this. Help.

Re: Light is flickering on television

Welcome to the Roku Community, @SNC1995!

Thanks for reaching out. We'd be happy to help you fix this so you can get back on streaming.

It may be possible that this might have something to do with your physical remote. In this case, kindly try to reboot your remote by following the steps provided below:

If your voice remote uses standard AA or AAA alkaline batteries, you can reboot it by removing and reinstalling the batteries.

  1. Remove the battery cover on the back of your remote
  2. Remove both batteries from the battery compartment
  3. Re-insert the negative (-) end of a battery first and then gently push the positive (+) end until the battery clicks into place
  4. Repeat the previous step to install the second battery
  5. Put the battery cover back on your remote

If your voice remote has a rechargeable battery, follow the steps below below to reboot your remote.

  • If your rechargeable voice remote has a pairing button, press and hold the pairing button on the back of the remote for 20 seconds.
  • If your rechargeable voice remote does not have a pairing button, press and hold the Back and Home for 20 seconds.

After doing so, let's also try to reboot your Roku TV:

  1. Remove the power cable from your streaming device
  2. Wait at least 5 seconds
  3. Re-connect the power cable
  4. Wait for your streaming device to power on, and the Home screen to appear on your TV
  5. Once you see the Home screen, try to use your remote to control your device

Let us know how it goes and we'll continue assisting you from there.

Best regards,
Carly
