2018 TCL Roku volume won’t change

Hi, 2 questions.

(I’ve already contacted TCL help, of which did not give any answers only “factory reset” “make sure WiFi is connected” etc)

First though, my TV’s info (it is connected to wireless but that info is taken out): https://imgur.com/a/Z2Cu3vV and https://imgur.com/a/Rh04Q89

1. What kind of cord or model number do I need to connect the TV to a power outlet?

2. I have the original remote. I have the Roku app. Both work for everything except the volume. Have done factory reset and tried unplugging the tv for 1 minute, but the volume stays on Mute.
Here is a video of using the OG remote to try and turn up the volume. (The exact same happens with the Roku app — no matter if I take the batteries out of the OG remote or not, thinking the buttons may be stuck): https://imgur.com/a/pwcWhxs

Thank you.

Re: 2018 TCL Roku volume won’t change

I don't understand question 1 since the TV is obviously already connected to a power outlet.

For the 2nd question, does the TV have volume buttons on it?  I have two TCL Roku TVs and one has volume buttons while I think the other does not.  It definitely looks like you have a stuck button somewhere, but if you took the batteries out of the remote then it's not the problem.  Don't overlook the possibility that you have another unrelated remote with a stuck button or one that's stuck in the cushions somewhere that's interfering.

Re: 2018 TCL Roku volume won’t change

For question 1, I bought a janky looking cord on eBay and though it works, I would like to know if there’s an OEM one out there? Or even one less janky? I’m hyper-paranoid about house fires since coming home to one a couple yrs back.

The Roku remote does have volume buttons on it… they’re on the side of the remote just above the mute button. It’s ancient (2017/2018).
So I did figure out that if I use the Roku app & select to use headphones on the app, then it will in fact work correctly through the EarPods. Volume and all (doesn’t show volume level icon on the tv, just headphone icon where the volume icon would show).

I’m lost otherwise. Guess I’ll try getting another remote, pair it and see if that’ll fix the issue. After checking any other remotes and the couch cushions lol

Re: 2018 TCL Roku volume won’t change

There isn't really anything special about the power cords.  They probably come out of China by the millions, but certainly some are better quality than others.

I was speaking of volume buttons on the back or bottom of the TV by the power button.  One of my TCLs has five buttons on the back while the other only has a power button on the bottom.  If the TV itself has volume buttons and one of those is stuck a new remote won't make a difference.
