Will my Roku streaming device still operate once Telstra TV shuts down on October 31?

We have enjoyed our partnership with Telstra over the years; however, Telstra has decided to close its platform, and unfortunately, there is nothing Roku can do to continue supporting your Telstra TV device.

If you have enjoyed your experience, you can still access the Roku platform in Australia through Roku TVs available at local retailers.

is there software available to download to permit my roku 4200tl to act like the ordinary roku 3 4200x. thanks rob landgraf

@landgraf, sorry, no.  Your device only connects to Telstra servers for its updates.

I own 4 Telstra Roku units. Because Telstra shut these down and Roku didn't do any type of Software update, I will never purchase anything from either of these 2 companies in the future. The way that both have let all there customers down is the worst kind of betrayal. I will start to convert all phone and internet services over too competitor's.

Unfortunately, that is what happens when a company licenses out its OS and/or brand name to third party companies.  They have no control over the quality of service that those companies provide nor do they realize that it can damage their reputation if those companies fail to provide good service or go out of business.  

It is pretty common these days though.  For example, GE is pretty much GE in name only if you buy their products today.
