User interface requires too many button clicks
When I hit the power button on my Roku Express4K+ remote it turns on the TV and my Roku and brings up a purple screen with some buildings on it and some ads on some signs in the scene. Why? This is so stupid and I have to hit the OK button to dismiss this useless screen and get to the menu. Then I have to hit OK again to go from the menu to the apps. Why? Why not just land on the apps when I power on. In fact, why not allow me to choose where I land when I power on. I should have the option to go “directly into a specified app”, go to the “last app that was open”, or go to the menu.
I just got a Xumo device for my Spectrum streaming service and it takes me directly to the spectrum app and one button and I am in the app . With Roku I have to hit 4-5 buttons and 25 seconds of waiting before I am in the app. Roku falling way behind when it comes to User Interface. More and more people are streaming and if the user experience sucks and is slow, people will look elsewhere.

Re: User interface requires too many button clicks
The screen you are describing with buildings sounds like a screen saver.
Rokus plugged into constant power supplies don't turn off when you turn off your tv. If the Roku went to the screen saver due to inactivity after you turned the TV off, or moved to a different TV input, that could be where it is when you turn your tv back on.
You can prevent your Roku from going to the screen saver in the first place by going to Roku menu path Settings > Theme (may take a few seconds to load) > Screensaver start time > Disable screensaver.
Note that this could leave your Roku streaming unwatched stuff and using a lot of unnecessary bsndwidth. To limit this to no more than four hours you can enable 'Bandwidth saver' under Settings > Network.
Further, you can eliminate unwatched downloads altogether by getting in the habit of pressing the Roku Home key to return to the Roku home page before changing to a different input on your TV or turning your tv off.
