Roku streamer will not let me access apps

My ROKU streaming device all of a sudden will not let me access apps...PRIME, etc. I also cannot access "system reset" or any other solution given when I Google the issue. Happened all of a sudden tonite. Tried unplugging Roku device and wireless modem.

Before we proceed further, it would be appreciated if you could provide us with additional information such as follows:

  • Are there any error messages prompted when you try to access certain content?
  • Are both Live TV and on-demand shows affected by this? 
  • What specific apps are you having this issue with?
  • Did you recently make any changes to your network connection?

In the meantime, we suggest the following steps to help you troubleshoot:

  • Reboot your Roku device under Settings > System > Power (skip if unavailable) > System restart.
  • Reset your network connection under Settings > Advanced system settings > Network connection reset > Reset connection.

Hi Carly and thanks for replying

My Roku device all of a sudden defaulted to the Roku channel when turned on. Furthermore, it would not allow me to access other apps such as Youtube, Prime, Tubi...etc.

I was unable to do a restart or network connection  reset as I could not access "Settings" on the device. I could go to Settings but could not maneuver through the settings via the remote control.

In the end, I had to go to my online ROKU account and delete the streaming device completely and then reinstall it again from scratch.  It now works correctly again but was quite frustrating.
