Remove/reinstall CHL without remove button

I subscribed to Tennis Channel Plus through my Roku box. Two weeks later, the specific tournament I was watching no longer played but buffered endlessly.

This problem grew to other events within Tennis CHL Plus but on no other platform. After doing ALL the troubleshooting possible, I assumed it was either Tennis CHL or their app. I found that since I subscribed through my Roku box, "Remove channel* was un available on the * menu.

After a prolonged but well spirited Chat with Roku, my subscription was cancelled, refund given & Tennis was still streaming for a while. I was then able to "Remove channel," reinstall & log in fresh.

Well guess what? After deleting & reinstalling Tennis it streams perfectly. No surprise!

Why can't I simply have the ability to do so? What the heck?

In this day & age it's what one does on your phone, tablet, laptop or car!

Wow. Thoughts?

Re: Remove/reinstall CHL without remove button

When you subscribe to a channel through Roku, the remove option for the channel is disabled. You have to first unsubscribe from the service though Roku, then the remove options is reenabled. Why Roku does that, I have no idea.

Re: Remove/reinstall CHL without remove button

If the channel you are attempting to reinstall is one for which you have a paid subscription through Roku, there will be a "Manage subscription" option instead of a "Remove channel" option.  This is to keep you from thinking that by removing the channel that it cancels your subscription.  Click "Manage subscription" and follow the prompts to cancel your subscription.  Now the "Remove channel" option will be shown and you can proceed to remove the channel.  (Your subscription will continue to run for the rest of the prepaid subscription period, but will no longer auto-renew at that point. After re-installing the channel you can reinstate your subscription to restore its auto-renewal if you like.)

Edited to add:

I believe they do it this way because too many people assumed that removing a channel would cancel their subscription, and would be upset when they continued to be billed for the channel.
