ROKU home screen loads YouTube TV correctly, but will not load MSNBC channel on VISIO TV

Jump to solution

All other channels work as expected. MSNBC channel works fine for a few days, then overnight something happens and it will not load next morning. I've taken channel out--reinstalled and it does the same thing. I've taken ROKU out--reinstalled with newly-charged batteries and it still will not work. I've considered switching to HULU, but hesitate to have to learn entirely new method of navigating. I have 2 Samsung TVs in other rooms that carry MSNBC with no issues. A small Toshiba TV in one bedroom farthest from the fiber optic router (and accessory extender) and it loads all channels just fine. So, what's the problem with MSNBC and streaming access??? I'm very tired of the hours spent trying to watch our favorite news source.

Re MSNBC channel will not load on VISIO TV

Hi @grollands38,

Greetings from the Roku Community!

Thank you for getting in touch with us. Currently, MSNBC is not available as a standalone channel on Roku. We would also recommend performing some basic troubleshooting provided by our support page here: How to resolve a channel playback issue.

If the issue continues, we highly advise reaching out to the channel support team for additional assistance. The majority of channels on Roku are managed directly by the channel providers themselves.

Thanks,
Rey

This is a never ending problem with MSNBC on the Roku. It has nothing to do with your provider, your Roku device, or television.  This is the usual massive failure of MSNBC’s streaming protection scheme on the Roku.

Roku’s system engineers need to work with MSNBC to solve this constantly recurring problem, because passing the buck isn’t a solution.

It will eventually just start working again in days, weeks, or a little longer.

Hi, @Wineaux.

Greetings from the Roku Community!

We appreciate you reaching out for support. We'd be happy to share further information about this.

Although this is available to stream on the Roku platform, the service provider maintains and updates MSNBC independently. Thus, we suggest coordinating this with their Support team for additional clarification.

It's important to note that Roku simply hosts the channel on the platform and does not have direct management control over it.

You may reach them here: MSNBC Support

Best regards,
Carly
