Is there a way to see first run, current shows from Discovery? MotorTrend? Other channels as they are rolled out on Cable or Direct TV? Trying to replace DTV but only finding older/last season episodes.

Roku is a device with many (thousands?) of different apps.  The closet replacement to something like DirecTV would be one of the cable-replacement-style apps – Fubo, sling, YouTube TV and others.

Other apps like Netflix, Prime, Paramount+ etc. have their own content which they get before Cable and DirecTV (Assuming cable and DirecTV ever get them.)
