Multiple Chimes for Doorbell

Jump to solution

Is there a way to install additional chimes (Roku or otherwise)?  I have a 2,500 sq ft house and even with centrally locating the Roku chime, it can’t be heard in the bedrooms.
Roku tech support suggested installing a 2nd doorbell at another door 😩. I have 1 front door. That is where people come and ring the bell. This is quite a major issue; a doorbell that can’t be heard throughout the house is pretty much useless.

Greetings, @LoriC2!

Welcome to the Roku Community! Thank you for posting about adding chimes to your Roku Smart Home Doorbell. We're happy to provide you assistance.

Please note that it is only possible to use one chime per doorbell. Additional chimes cannot be added to a single doorbell.

We hope this clears things up. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask in the Roku Community.

Best regards,
Jess

If you had two doorbells, that would work.

Another option is to use an Amazon Alexa speaker and Alexa integration, which can be used a secondary chime. You would need to integrate using Alexa, find the doorbell in the devices list on Amazon Alexa app, and there's an option for Doorbell Press Notifications which would give you an alert to your phone, any Alexa speakers, as well as the Roku chime and any Roku streaming devices set to receive notifications.

It may also be possible to set this up using Google Home but I don't have this set up to test, maybe someone else can chime in, no pun intended 🙂

Happy Streaming!

Hi @TomDavis,

Thanks for posting in the Roku Community!

We really appreciate your suggestion regarding the notification chime on your Roku TV. Enhancing the sound that plays when a notification pops up on the screen is valuable to us. Don't worry, we’ll share your thoughts with our Roku team because your convenience and satisfaction are really important to us.

No, only the chime associated with the doorbell that is pushed will chime. Each doorbell is connected to only one chime.
Not a very well thought out design if you, like me, have one door that people would ring a doorbell at. We can’t hear the chime in most of my 2,500 sq ft home.
Luckily I have 5 four-legged doorbells so I’m alerted if someone is at the door that way or by notification on the app.

@RokuJessica-G

I have a suggestion for additional chime options:  Notification-enabled TVs currently play a sharp tone and display an onscreen popup.  It would be useful to provide a TV notification option that allows the user to select a tune and volume level, similar to Chime settings in the Smart Home app.  Every Roku TV and streaming player would then become a potential doorbell chime.

Getting it done and doing it right are not mutually exclusive.
