Base Station will not stay connected via ethernet/cannot connect with wifi

This product is a total headache. You may save some money on cost, but this setup will steal your time troubleshooting and frustrate you to no end. I have done all troubleshooting steps recommended. When I go online to chat with someone at Roku, they will eventually leave the chat and I will get an email that states the issue is resolved. Very unacceptable behavior...

The base station will connect to my router through ethernet wired connection. The outdoor camera is 12 feet away and when connected shows 2 solid bars. The longest the base has stayed connected is 6 days, but it has never stayed connected that duration or longer since. I have to factory reset the base multiple times, and re-added, then sync to outdoor camera at least once a week.

The base will not connect to router with wifi. I have tried to connect the base through a mesh unit and that scenario is the same. I have moved the base unit into another room with the same issues. Everything else that connects to that particular router ethernet port works fine.

No other device on my internet service is experiencing any issues, just this cheap base unit. When the base connects, it will be solid blue anywhere from 2 minutes to 6 days, then it will flash blue light. I will unplug for different durations of time and re-plug the base back in, where it will flash blue indefinitely. I have reset my internet router multiple times. The only way this base will come back up is to factory reset it and re-sync the camera. This is unacceptable. I pay a subscription for this system to work, and I want it to work.

Since I have exhausted all troubleshooting options, can you just send me a new base to verify if this one is truly defective? Otherwise I will end the subscription and toss this garbage in the trash.

Anyone else thinking about buying this unit, save yourselves a headache and go with something more reliable. This situation has been very frustrating.

Thanks

Re: Base Station will not stay connected via ethernet/cannot connect with wifi

Hi @jtsmither,

Welcome to the Roku Community!

We truly empathize with your frustration regarding the connection issues with your Roku Base station. It can be really challenging when devices don’t work as they should, and we appreciate the effort you've already made in trying to troubleshoot the problem. Your experience matters to us, and we're here to help you find a solution.

We can't send you a Base Station for your Roku camera. The Base Station is not available on its own as it is included exclusively with the Roku Outdoor camera bundle. Please visit your DM as we have sent you a private message for more details.

We look forward to your response.

Cheers,
Riamie
