Washed out color all of a sudden on TCL Roku

Just started today 7/16/25 where color was suddenly washed out.  Its almost like Im trying to watch a 3D show w/o glasses, the color is distorted that way.  Tried doing a factory reset with no improvement.  System was last updated 7/16/25.  The TV is between 7 and 9 yrs old.  I tried a factory reset and unplugging and plugging back in w/o effect

  • I'm having trouble with the picture color on some of the streaming platforms. Disney and prime especially. While some movie's color is normal but other's will be in a very weird color, almost like blacked out. I have restarted, reset, and checked for updates but nothing has worked. Please help!

        Quick question — Is it occurring during streaming, or does it also occur on the app menu screen and Roku Home screen? Could you please send us a video or photo of the issue occurring?

  • I believe my TV is having a similar issue. It started a few months ago, where a green/pink delayed image appears over the current image. I’ve tried to reset the image settings and color space setting and nothing has helped. My TV is only 3 years old.

        I have tried to attach images but the files exceed the attachment size limit.

      I tried my tv yesterday for the first time in several days and it was back to normal. I am thinking they may have put in a fix.

        I'm having the same problems as these other folks. 

  • My daughter just showed me her screen on her TV, it’s white and pink with minimal color, I tried to reset it to factory picture settings, unplugged and let it sit a while and still the same. I am now resetting all the apps because it still is white washed after a factory reset. Help! The TV is only a month old.

      It looks like you are having issues with the video quality on your TV. Thanks for giving the troubleshooting steps a shot on your own. Can you please share a bit more info? 

      • Please confirm whether your Roku TV is a Roku-made TV or a third-party Roku TV.
      • When did the issue first start?
      • If possible, a video of the issue would be helpful.

    • Is this happening on all apps that you are trying to access?
    • What is the current software version of your Roku TV? (Settings > System > About)
    • Could you share with us a photo?

      The same thing has happened to our TV. This TV is about two years old and we definitely have older TVs not having the same issues. The menu screen is fine, but it is one you go to play a video that the colors are washed out.

  • The same thing happened to me. The tv was purchased in Nov. but just plugged in last Friday, 7/11/25.  Was stored in our house in an upright position. TV worked fine for 7 days, turned it off to go to dinner, came home and turned it on.  The color is exactly as described above: It's almost like I'm trying to watch a 3D show w/o glasses, the color is distorted that way.  

    I can't understand how it worked beautifully for 7 days then is just off.  The icons and previews of shows are colored correctly, but when we choose a show the color is so dark we can hardly see what's happening.

  • I have already sent pictures and videos about this problem. Are you any closer to getting this problem resolved? My grand babies can't watch Disney because of this problem. 

  • I would greatly appreciate an update. Paying for Disney is almost pointless because the movies can't be watched because of this problem.
